APOSTOLOS KARAKASIS (GREECE)

Born in 1970 in Thessaloniki, Greece. Studied film and video in the UK at West Surrey College of Art & Design (1990-1993). Since then he has been involved in documentary filmmaking both as director and editor. His extensive work for television mainly focuses on cultural and historical issues, with a personal point of view. As a director he has collaborated with many of Greece’s public television (ERT) documentary serieses. His independent cinematic work focuses on a creative portrayal of “common people’s” stories in an observational mode and has received awards and distribution in international festivals.

His work also includes audiovisual presentations projects of largescale incorporating a documentary approach (audiovisual installation for the Greek pavillion in Shanghai expo 2010). He is the main author of the open access ebook “Εφόδιο για νέους ντοκιμαντερίστες”, a handbook for young documentary filmmakers.

He is the Dean of the Academy of Dramatic Arts at the University of Zagreb.
Davor was born in Zagreb, Croatia in 1976; in 1996 he enrolled in the Editing Department at the Academy of Dramatic Arts, University of Zagreb, where in 2003 he obtained his academic diploma. Since the time of his studies, he has been working on professional film and television projects as a freelance filmmaker, in the sectors of post-production, production, and directing, on projects for the domestic and international markets.

His artistic work is best displayed in the image and sound editing of feature films and documentaries, many of which have been awarded at home and abroad. His credo is continuous personal and professional development through artistic and research work, in professional environments as well as academia – where he teaches and learns from the students. He has been intensively involved in new technologies used in film production and post-production and has worked on projects related to the introduction of digital technologies to post-production departments of television and film studios in Croatia.

For years, in addition to his professional work in the audiovisual sector, he has been involved in education in the field of film and television, and more recently in the field of video games.

Doru Nitescu

DORU NIȚESCU (ROMANIA)

Is teaching Film Directing at UNATC. In 2008 he got his PhD diploma with a thesis about Federico Fellini. He was Vice-Dean of the Film Faculty, Vice-Rector of UNATC, Head of the Film Directing Department, and now he is the President of UNATC Senate.

His short films were selected in several festivals: München, New York, Karlovy Vary, Bologna. His first feature film, Carmen, was selected in festivals like: Sarajevo, Göteborg, Beijing etc.

He also worked for several Romanian films as 1st and 2nd AD, including Lucian Pintilie’s “Niki and Flo”.
